Corrections Policy
Red Oak Times is committed to correcting errors, clarifying unclear information, and updating stories when new information becomes available.
Our commitment to accuracy
Red Oak Times aims to publish accurate, useful, and timely information for Red Oak residents. When we find or are notified of an error, we review the issue and may correct, clarify, update, or remove content as appropriate.
How to request a correction
Email [email protected] with the article title, link, the specific information you believe is incorrect, and any supporting source or documentation.
What we may correct
Corrections may include:
- Misspelled names
- Incorrect dates, times, or locations
- Incorrect public meeting information
- Outdated public safety details
- Wrong links or broken links
- Unclear wording that could confuse readers
- Missing context that materially changes the meaning of a story
- Incorrect attribution or sourcing
Updates vs. corrections
Some stories change as new information becomes available. In those cases, we may update an article without treating the update as a correction.
A correction is generally used when previously published information was inaccurate or materially misleading. An update is generally used when new information is added after publication.
How corrections are handled
When appropriate, we may fix the article directly, add clarifying language, update the article date, add an editor’s note, or add a correction note explaining what changed.
Reader submissions
Readers are encouraged to contact us if they notice an error. Please include as much detail as possible so we can review the issue efficiently.
